Repost: Why It’s Okay to Make a Mess of Things

Some of my friends would say that I am a perfectionist. I mean, is there anything wrong with wanting for everything to be perfect the first time you do it or not stopping until you perfected it? I know that no one is perfect (please don’t tell me this cliché as I have heard this gazillion times in my entire life on existence) and I know it’s not healthy to think that it’s a failure to mess up, or to change everything you’ve worked hard for something out of ordinary.  I was and still sometimes, think the same. However, this journey called life has taught me enough to know that sometimes, it is okay to mess up; to go out of the routine; to once in a while walk on a curb, and at the ends of a cliff, than the safe and straight line. Sometimes, we just need to experience life and all the adventure it throws our way.

I saw an article from Positive Positive that talks about this exact topic and the reason why it is okay to mess up with things – we learn, we experience, we know more. So here it is and I hope that you read it with an open mind .

---
Sometimes—okay, MANY times—in this life, you’re going to build things up in a certain way just to tear it all down and start again. There are few (if any) people in this world who build a life and get it right the first time.
So you went to college for a lot of years and a lot of money to become a lawyer, only to realize you hate everything about the law (and the big city) and just want to paint your days away on a farm in rural America.
So you married your high school sweetheart (he’s a nice guy) and settled into domestic life (in a nice town), maybe even popped out a kid or two, only to realize that you want fiery and passionate love, to travel the world, and to sing in a rock band.
So you built up a business, filled your client docket, and started making a name for yourself, only to decide it’s not right and you want to do something completely different…about three or four times now.
That’s okay, and it’s more than normal.
As we have different life experiences and relationships, we change. We learn and grow and shift. There’s no point at which this stops. As long as you’re alive, change is inevitable.
So instead of beating yourself up when something in your life no longer serves you, welcome it with open arms; it’s all part of the journey.

You don’t have to do or be what you said you wanted to do or be in the past. It’s the present, and if it no longer fits and serves you, then do or be something else.
You have permission to change your mind.
To flip flop on what you believe because you learned or experienced something new. Maybe you didn’t really get it before. Maybe you just weren’t ready for the lesson or the light bulb moment. It doesn’t matter why you felt differently before; it only matters why you feel what you feel RIGHT NOW.
So what if you originally wanted X and now you want Y? What’s the big deal? Really? Just because you went on and on about how much you loved or wanted something for half a decade (or just a week) doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to get tired of it and crave something different.
You have permission to do what’s best for you.
Change makes people uncomfortable, yes, but that’s not your problem.
If you decide to start living a healthy lifestyle, move halfway across the country, or quit a perfectly good job, so long as it’s what’s best for you and your needs and you’re not intentionally causing harm to anyone else, more power to you! You don’t have to explain yourself to anyone.
If it feels right, it feels right. If it’s time to change, it’s time to change.
You have permission to tear it all down and start again.
I’m no stranger to building up an amazing life only to take a good hard look and say, “nope, this isn’t what I want.” When you’ve put time, energy, heart, and soul into a certain kind of life (or job, relationship, identity, etc.), it can be scary and uncomfortable to tear it all down.
To leave a long-term relationship, quit a job (or switch careers), or walk away from the ease, comfort, and security of it all…but sometimes you have to make a mess of things to find the joy and fulfillment you desire and deserve.
And let me tell you, sometimes it’s actually easier to take a sledgehammer to all that you’ve built up rather than waiting for it to painfully unravel over time. Because if it’s not right, trust me, it will unravel.
So tell me, what do you want to change in your life?
Think of one thing—a defining aspect of your life or relationship that no longer serves you. What’s keeping you from making the changes you need to make? Who are you afraid of disappointing? Where are you being prideful? Then, tell me one thing you’re going to do today to start moving the right direction.

Throwback: Rockin' the short hair '08

Our hair is our crowning glory. The style can make or break your entire look and can definitely make people turn their heads in your direction. You can have red hair and rock it like Hayley Williams or you can have a long and wavy hair and walk sexily like Kim Kardashian. However, when you're a student of a University where there are guidelines on your appearance (hairstyle included) you may need to adhere to the rules unless of course you want to see the Dean and have him explain them again to you. Or simply, you just don't care about your hairstyle and you care more about other things like your grades, the parties, and your buddies. In my case,  I go for the second one -  I just didn't care. So I went for the most functional hairstyle after being bestfriends with my ponytail for three years - the bob cut. The style's short and could be considered as wash & wear. Perfect and functional for people who are busy and don't have time to do the ironing, curling, much more the styling.

So, I would like to ask... Was I rocking the bob cut look?

Since this is a throwback, photos are pixelated (I was using my Motorola V3x back then)

When in Singapore: Oh so Chewy Junior

I told myself that one missed entry is acceptable for a busy working professional who maintains a blog. However, this morning, I found an inspiration - not a lover, or a possible lover, or an apple of my eye. But one of the things that can make my day a lot better and can make me smile that big smile you can already see my gums. HAHAHA.
This is one of my comfort food- the creamiest, softest and tastiest cream puffs of Chewy Junior. I'm a fan of doughnuts too, but if you're going to make me choose to which pastry I am going to enjoy the calories without regretting it afterwards, then you give me a box of these lovely puffs - not just a piece but a box of it. I am more willing to spend an extra 30 minutes on the treadmill and another set of HIIT to burn the calories.
Anyway, you should try the cream puffs especially when you're in Singapore. I have tried it once in Manila but nothing beats the original. I am sure you gotta love it more than your doughnut.

When in Singapore is a series of entries featuring the beautiful Singapore - it’s people, it’s culture, it’s food and it’s places). Join me in my journey to get to know this country deeper.

Homeland

Unbelievable, unthinkable and unimaginable twists. These are the words I am going to associate with this series. Again, this is not your typical CIA plot wherein the protagonist will capture bad men who are lurking around New York (though I am watching this type of series too). Homeland is different. It’s all about a Marine (Nick Brody) who returns to the United States after eight years of captivity in Iraq. Everyone  treats him as a hero but, intelligence officer, Carrie Mathison suspects him that he may have been “turned”. So the story circles around Carrie doing an investigation to Brody to prove that he is a threat to the United States while the rest of America considers him a hero. Interesting, isn’t it?

This political thriller series is based from the Israeli Series Hatufim (English title: Prisoners of War), which was created by Gideon Raff.

Here's the trailer of this series. Hope you'll enjoy it. Don't worry, it just have 3 seasons to date, you can still catch up before the airing of Season 4. This will not win best tv series consecutively for 3 years now (Emmy & Golden Globes) if this is not super awesome.

Let's hear Karmin

Sometimes, I agree with the post on Facebook that states the shortest horror story is Monday. You agree with this too, don’t ever dare to lie. Who wants to go to work after a too short weekend? You haven’t even had a chance to recharge your energy from all the partying and the movie/series marathon over the weekend. In some way, we use all our stored adrenaline starting from Friday night till Monday dawn. So it goes that on Monday morning, we all look and act like a zombie: no energy, and dreading the upcoming long hours of work. A trenta size (916 ml) coffee from Starbucks is our bestfriend that we can count on to function and survive this day. Anyway, aside from the caffeine that you need to inject into your system, an earsplitting music can be your company too! And this is the best option for people who aren’t fond of caffeine-filled drinks. Oh well, earsplitting may be a little of an exaggeration, but listening to good music on early Monday morning is the best way to start the day. And today, I chose Karmin to help me start my day with a smile. Here are some of the covers I love from them. Enjoy and together, we fight the restlessness.

It's your day Nanay

I am probably one of the luckiest people in the world (well, my siblings are equally lucky too). Because, we are given two incredible ladies to take care of us. We are blessed to have our Mommy and our "Nanay" in our lives. Our Nanay (how we call her), is our Aunt who takes care of us ever since we were toddlers. Imagine the immense sacrifices she endured in taking good care of the five of us while both of our parents were working for our bright future. She's never just an aunt to us because she have done a lot of things a mother should do for her kids -  from changing our nappies, taking good care when we're sick, to nursing our hangover (this is more for my brothers, peace Kuyas and SP). Imagine having a constant guidance throughout your life so that you will not take the wrong path. That's how lucky we are for having her, our Nanay.

You know how much I love you! I love you very much Nanay. Happy Happy Birthday Nanay. At last, we, five, already know your age after the long years you've successfully hid the information. Enjoy the party later.

It's Saturday

It's  Saturday and it should be one heck of a fun day. Come on guys! Get your butt off the bed and spend this beautiful day with great and upbeat music. I know probably most of you had a great night last night but the fun never stops last night. Shake that booty and  sweat out the alcohol in your system. There is no valid reason to nurse yourself and spend this day on the bed. Again, get up with some cool music and dance this day away and surely you'll have the energy to party again later. Here are some of the coolest songs that can surely have you dancing like crazy.

Can't Remember to Forget You - Shakira feat Rihanna

Timber - Pitbull feat Ke$sha

Monster - Eminem fet Rihanna

Feel this Moment - Pitbull feat Xtina
